Imagine strolling along Venetian alleys during which you pass by XVII-century ladies walking under arm with their man companions in wigs. Around there are many stalls tempting into buying carnival sweets. Mysterious figures wearing masks sip their drinks at the café tables. Venetian squares and little streets are filled with colour, sound, smells, joy and spirit of entertainment. This is what it is a carnival “crazy world upside-down”.
If you do not have either a mask or a costume, your chances to take an active part in the fun are not lost at all! You just go to St. Marc’s Square where the local students from the Academy of Fine Arts sitting on small chairs give out colourful paints and brocade. They will do the make-up for a symbolic fee. Numerous stands are filled with fairy’s hats, Casanova’ coats and funny wigs. Please feel invited to take part in one of the biggest street fun events in Europe!
Travelissimo takes you on a fancy trip combining such experiences as the carnival fun in Venetia, a visit to Padua and the remembering of Romeo’ and Juliet’ fates in Verona.
